June 6, 1944, D-Day, Operation OVERLORD’s invasion of Normandy has laid claim to many superlatives: the largest amphibious invasion, the largest invasion fleet, and up to that time, the largest airborne operation. OVERLORD led to the end of the Second World War in Europe and established the parameters of the Cold War for the 50 years. For the 75th anniversary, historian Ed Gordon, co-author of the widely praised Divided on D-Day, will focus on some of the more controversial and little-known aspects of Operation OVERLORD that make it one of the most analyzed and celebrated campaigns of World War II. Program to be followed by a book sale and signing.
