Road to Victory Part I: D-Day, Liberation of Paris and a Bridge Too Far

March 19, 2016 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

In August 1944, the Allies at last smashed through the Normandy invasion bridgehead. The rapid breakout and advance led by General George S. Patton’s Third Army caught the world’s attention. For a moment it seemed that the war in Europe might end in 1944! In “Road to Victory part 1” historian Ed Gordon will relate how the opportunity for victory seemingly slipped away from the Allies during the late summer and early fall of 1944.
Presenter: Dr. Edward Gordon
