Marine Corps Helicopters and Operations in Vietnam-1962 – 1975

January 15, 2022 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Marine Corps Helicopters were involved in the Vietnam Conflict, to one degree or another, from April of 1962, in support of the Army of the Republic of Vietnam, until April of 1975 during the evacuation from Saigon. This presentation will give a general perspective regarding the various types of helicopters deployed by the Marine Corps in South Vietnam. It will also address the varied types of missions they conducted. To sum it up, the primary purpose of Marine helicopter operations was to support and aid the Marines on the ground who fought, bled and sometimes died in conditions most of us would find intolerable.  To Marine helicopter pilots, crews and maintenance personnel, the Marine Grunts on the ground were and still are the real heroes.  They will never forget them.
