Battling Hollywood

When the studios plunged into the war effort, the result was a spate of propagandistic films from all fighting fronts — some great, some terrible — along with the occasional masterwork that challenged popular conceptions of the conflict and dared to confront the realities of combat. This program will explore Hollywood\’s depiction of the war as it happened with a bounty of clips ranging from \”Battleground\” to \”They Were Expendable\” and beyond.
