100th Bomb Group Mini-Reunion Special Presentation – 1 PM
Presented by MICHAEL McDONALD, PhD – author and educator, who received his doctorate from the University of Hawaii, and has taught at the college level. Dr. McDonald will present “A WAR STORY” with focus on the service of his father, Lt. Jack R. McDonald, a navigator and bombardier in the 8th Air Force. Dr. McDonald recounts his father’s harrowing escape from a B-17 shot down over Germany where he became a POW in Stalag Luft III, the famous prison camp of “the Great Escape.” Using rare photos, drawings, and personal accounts, Dr. McDonald presents the prisoners’ experiences during the harsh winter of 1944, including forced relocations to other camps, and his ultimate liberation by Gen.
